8 Items That Must Not Be Placed in the Dishwasher

Dishwashers can ruin some certain items. Before you put anything in your dishwasher, make sure the thing does not belong to the list below.

5. Cast Iron

Soap should never be used on your skillet – the chemicals that soap contains can destroy the coating. The best way to clean skillets is to use a paper towel to remove the dirt and leftovers of the food. Then you can gently rinse the utensil. If need be, use some salt to clean the surface. Afterwards, season it with a layer of neutral oil.

6. Flimsy Plastic

You can put plastic into the dishwasher only if it is reusable. Otherwise clean your plastic containers and plates by hand. If there is no special warning or sign, simply do not put the thing into the machine. There are a few brands like Tupperware that manufacture plastic items that can be washed in the dishwashers. If the plastic is very soft and flexible it may just melt in the device.
