Red kidney beans are dangerous if you do not know how to prepare them. Wrongly cooked, the beans pose health risks. This kind of plant contains a toxin called phytohaemagglutinin. Boil your red kidney beans for at least ten minutes to neutralize the toxin. If the beans are cooked for a shorter period of time, it doubles their toxicity levels.
